I gave this coin to Heidi becasuse of the exceptioal care she gives to our patients. When there is a special request for a patient needs she makes sure that the request is fullfilled. She has grown in her leadership role in our food Service Department. This has made a possitive impact within the department. Her kind heart is exsposed for all to see. I recieved this token from my new nurse manager, and felt very happy that my hard work was appreciated and noticed. I am passing this onto Mary Ann RN for her kindess and caring one day when she helped a patient of mine bathe and sit up, then she assisted me with making his bed and placing a frame on it. I was busy and my aide had not been able to assist him. This was not a part of Mary Ann's responsibilities this day and it was obvious that she did this because she cared about his well being. This token is being given to Teresa House-Hatfield, LCSW, Director of the comprehensive Homeless Program and Domiciliary Program at VA North Texas. For the past two years, Teresa has managed both the homeless programs and the Domiciliary without the assistance of a Domiciliary chief. In addition, shortly after she accepted the Directorship of the Homeless Programs, all of the managers at the Dallas facility accepted other positions and left the program. In spite of all of this, Teresa kept all of the programs operational and progressive. Over the last two years, most of these programs have been surveyed by CARP and Mathmetica with excellent results.

I recieved the coin due to my efforts at delivering and improving veterans' experience of care within our facility. As the Chief of Mental Health, I actively seek out ways of improving access to our services, decreasing the stigma associated with seeking mental health care and attending to the environment in which our veterans receive such care. Environmental issues include things such as making waiting areas kid-friendly for our veterans with young families or grandchildren, greeting all vets with a warm smile and can-do attitude, and promoting coveniences such as wi-fi within the clinic.

Delinda Thomas a Planetree Facilitator at the Central Texas VHCS. During our Facilitator Training, I shared a story about a tragic accident that occured while I was serving in the military. Delinda sensed the pain that was clearly still evident when I told my story and after the training ended, she stopped by my office with a gift. The gift was two books ("Tear Soup" and "The Next Place"). These books were a source of strength for me as I continue to deal with the tragedy of my accident. A request from Delinda was to pay it forward at a time when someone else may need help dealing with a tough time in their life. I pass my Planetree Token to Delinda.

I received a Pass It On coin after arranging a hair cut for a vented patient in our ICU who was struggling with long hair extensions that were causing her pain as she lay in bed. I am happy to receive the coin, but the act of being able to help this patient was really all I needed. I work in an administrative role and seldom have direct interaction with patients. This was a treat for me to see the gratitude in the patient's eyes after her hair cut.

I am giving this token to Cynthia Reeves. A few weeks ago, we had a patient who had been unconscious for several weeks. When she woke up, she was requesting a haircut. Cynthia called around to some local hair salons and was able to locate someone who was willing to come to the hospital and cut this patient's hair at no cost. It was a very nice thing to do
